Claim to
fame - and international traveller and the reason Natalie
became a Massage Therapist
By the way, this photo was
only taken a few weeks ago. She looks pretty good for an
old girl.
Tinkerbell was from the first litter we ever
breed at Amuaray along with her sister Gemima. Soon to be
called Rinky, she won the heart of Geoff who purchased her for
the small amount of $2.20 (long story). She was a lovely
house dog and enjoyed her lovely life on the bed and lounge
mainly sleeping for most of the day. Until Natalie's
Agility dog broke his leg and had to retire and she was selected
and the future agility dog in the house. Back in those
days, there were very few cavaliers in the sport in Australia so
it was a hard for for both of us as we had a lot of learning to
do together. Over the years Rinky became a role model to
many people who still to this day enjoy the sport and changed
the way many Australians thought about Cavalier in agility.
Then to make matters worse, her mum and dad decided to really
make her work and entered her in an endurance test. Her ET
story is here.
When Geoff got transferred to the US for 4 years
Rinky embarked on her international adventure flying over to
live with us in San Diego. 3 year on after life in sunny
California we were all transferred to Connecticut so she became
a snow bunny as well. The day she arrived and saw the snow
was something I will always remember. She jumped out of
the car and felt so good in the cold that she took off running,
straight over an ice patch and ended up at the vets within an
hour with some major bruising. After that day she decided
that the snow was for the young ones and the lounge in front of
the fire was the much better option.
She turned 13 just the other day and celebrated
with a pink cake picked out by Charlie. I am writing this
the day after Molly died who was aged 9 and now I can really
appreciate how lucky we are that Rinky has been in our life for
13 years. I cant image life with out her as she really is
part of the furniture now and hopefully I wont have to for some
time. But when I have to cross that bridge, I will have so
many wonderful memories of such a remarkable little dog and how
fortunate I have been that she allowed me to walk by her side.
Here is a video compilation I have done for Rinky
which includes soem great photos as well as a her very last
agility run as a Veteran at age 13. I hope you enjoy it as
much as i enjoyed making it.
Hug your dogs everyday so you never have any
regrets.
