Molly's Poem
To Jack and Charlie
I am not far from you.
I miss you both so much.
It was my time to go back home to God,
I chose the morning hush.
I am not far from you.
Close your eyes, you'll see.
The gentle wind blowing on your face,
are kisses from heaven from me.
I am not far from you.
Close your eyes, you'll see.
The warmth of the sunshine on your face
are big hugs from heaven from me.
I am not far from you.
Open your eyes, you'll see.
I chose the biggest fluffiest cloud in the sky,
in dog heaven where I'll be.
Love Mol
written by Natalie Winter
With great sadness I write this page after
Molly passed away very peacefully in her sleep.
Very unexpected, her passing has caused many tears in the Winter
house and was the boys first experience with the death of a
loved pet. She was a wonderful friend to all of us and best mate
of her litter brother Mickey who she travelled the world with
and shared everything they did together. Up until recently
it was no uncommon to see them sleeping on each other all the
time and just a part of each others life.
Molly was Geoff's little girl and had an
attitude to match the best of them. She was no wall flower
and made sure that more than one big dog knew she was around and she
was in charge. I think people used to look at me very
oddly when I asked them to not let their dog too close
to Mol but they always found out that it was best to listen to
me. Very uncavalierish!

In a weekend of reflection Geoff and I have
managed to enjoy a few laughs of her antics. Some that come
to mind were her ability to escape from any yard that Geoff
built to keep her in by either going under or over. She
didn't care which way she got out as long as it was out and that
is how she got one of her pet names which was "Diggity D" and
"dig dog". It was not uncommon to see her bolt
around a yard on the opposite side of the property to where she
was put. We used to have a score board in the house that
listed Mol -v- Dad to see if he could keep her in. Unfortunately
for Geoff, Mol won hands down and we spent many a dark winters
night out fixing holes in fences to keep her in so we could go
to work the next day.
The most major escape that is still
fresh in Geoff's mind is when she found a hole in the back fence
and she had taken Mick and Mav with her. Geoff had to scale
an electric fence - in his croc's - in the rain in order to
catch them some distance away from the house.
Unfortunately he was is such a rush to get over the fence before
they got out of sight that he rushed his attempt to get over the
fence which result in him slipping and the electric fence
burning the inside of his thigh as he fell on it. He
picked himself up and ran about 1.5 km to eventually catch up
with them and drag them back home - all in his croc's. There is no doubt in
our mind who was the ring leader as Mol was the escape artist to
beat all escape artists.
Molly did compete in agility very successfully
and had ( I think) about 15 titles to her name. She made
the finals of the Australian Agility Nationals in Sydney (all
breeds) for Novice agility (I have forgotten the year).
She placed a respectable 10th overall which we were incredibly
proud of. I didn't put a lot of time into Molly as her
brother Mickey was always so easy to run and its a regret I will
always live with. However her most memorable run was with her dad
doing a tunnellers run in NADAC in San Diego. I was
pregnant and just could not run anymore so Geoff took on the
challenge - I mean how hard can it be huh!. Mol did well
to hang in with him having no idea what he was doing until
tunnel 8 then she was Outta there. She was not hanging
around to be trodden on and was off to find mum who "handled her
with care" leaving her dad standing in the ring not knowing
what to do. We have this on Movie and one day will
transfer it over from tape and upload it to You tube. One
day.

She gave us such a gift by passing so
peacefully in her sleep that she looked just like she was
sleeping when we buried her. The boys were able to be
involved in the process given her flowers and pats before we
buried her . Through their tears I was able to tell them that
when they lifted their heads to the skies they would feel the
wind brush on their faces. This was Molly giving them
kisses from Heaven and the sun on their faces was her warming
their hearts. That's when I wrote the poem above which may
help other children (and adults) deal with their grief.
Please feel free to pass around the link back to Molly's page so
those words can help heal others.
After seeing a dog that has passed it is
very hard to remember what they were like when they were alive
and thankfully we were able to capture some great footage of
Molly frolicking in the snow when she was living in CT and
sledding with her dad. This is how we will always remember
her.

our driveway in CT after taking the snow angel footage.
What a memory for us.

Do not stand at my grave and
weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glint of snow,
I am the sunlight on ripened grains,
I am the gentle autumn's rains.
When you awaken in the mornings hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush,
Of quiet birds circled in flight.
I am the stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there, I did not die.....

trophy from Rinky as she has won it some years before.
