All breeds
have their problems and
unfortunately, at the moment, the
Cavalier's is heart disease.
Amuaray concentrates on breeding to
improve the breed by using heart
cleared dogs and not breeding for
the money as some do. All litters
we breed (which is only 1-2 per
year) are bred for us, thereby
ensuring for any perspective buyer
that we have taken into account
breed problems and have tried to
counteract them.
Most of our
puppies are pre-sold as "Amuaray's"
reputation is regarded very highly.
Sometimes it is worth the wait. If
you are looking for a puppy to buy
we are more than happy to advise you
and assist you with any enquiries,
and may be able to pass you onto
someone who has available what you
require. One thing I must stress is
that although we may have puppies to
place when available, we know that
you are making all the right
enquiries and ensuring that you buy
from a reputable breeder, we at the
same time always ensure that the home
that the puppy is going to is the
home we would offer ourselves. The
best. So we may ask you questions
as we only want our puppies to go to
homes that they are loved in, and we
hope you understand that.
ROSLYN
GRANT
Along with my
family, and especially these
beautiful grand children pictured,
my other great joy is my involvement
with breeding, exhibiting and
trialing my dogs.
I have been
involved with dogs for the past 20
years. My first dog was Albert (Albie),
the most spoilt but loved Cavalier
King Charles Spaniel. Because of
his beautiful and joyous spirit I
was lead into the world of
obedience. I never did really get
Albie into the “great” status of an
obedience dog but he was a champion
in being my companion. I decided to
give obedience another go with a so
called good dog for obedience, a
golden retriever who I called
Bruin. Well he was good, he
certainly taught me heaps and gave
me many highs and lows with
obedience, I also showed him to his
Australian Champion title. Again
his greatest achievement was being a
wonderful part of my life and
household, he loved his Cavalier
family greatly. Sadly he decided it
was time to leave me when he was
almost 16 years old, he is truly
missed and is always included in the
conversations with the grandchildren
about how much fun he was. I can
highly recommend the breeds of
Golden Retrievers and Cavalier King
Charles Spaniels to any family as
loyal, fun loving, possibly a little
challenging to train at times but
non the less the best dogs to share
your life with.
When Bruin
young I commenced my “collection” of
cavaliers and started breeding
Cavaliers. I still have with me my
foundation bitch, a tri colour,
Elvenhome Galathea (Thea). She is
now 15 years old. In all, at the
moment, I have 9 Cavaliers at home,
which includes 5 generations of tri
coloured girls and the 6th
generation being a black and tan, an
amazing achievement + 2 tri coloured
boys. They are mostly all retired
from showing and trialing, except
the 2 young ones and are all growing
old, I am sure I am in for some sad
times soon as they each say farewell
to me. They all spend their days
lying in the sun and generally
enjoying their environment, then
when I get home from work they take
up residence on the lounge.
Sometimes it is hard for me to find
a space but never mind I still love
sharing my leisure time with them.
I spend my
working days involved in Sports
Medicine. I am show
secretary/committee person for the
Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club
of NSW, treasurer for Southern
Gundog Society and President of
Wollongong Dog Sports Club (Agility)
all of which keeps me on my toes.
My life is
filled with the laughter and love of
my little people and their parents,
and the love and respect of my
canine family. I am blessed
